JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY MANAGER
LEVEL: JUNIOR-MID to MID LEVEL
TYPE: 12 MONTH CONTRACT renewable based on performance
LOCATION: CAPE TOWN (REMOTE WORKING 40 HOUR WEEK, FLEXIBLE & OPEN TO AFTER HOURS AND WEEKENDS)
SALARY BAND: R12,000 – 15,000 per month
START DATE: 2 JANUARY 2020 / 1 FEBRUARY 2020
PURPOSE:
Starlight Media (Pty) Ltd is looking for a passionate, proactive and solution-orientated Community Manager to help scale our for-profit-for-good enterprise which runs online competitions.
This role should identify, grow and nurture our existing and new communities through social media and beyond. As the first hire of a 2-year-old business, applicants are presented with an interesting and unique opportunity to help grow the business and learn hands-on what it takes to achieve this.
Since Nov 2017, the business has run 60 competitions, attracted 65 000 entries and has donated a total of R450k to various charities along the way. Starlight Media sees itself as a tool for the fundraising of NPOs and other civil society groups through the application of technology to run competitions, consolidate funds and distribute a large portion of these funds to pre-vetted NPOs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To increase monthly entry volumes, overall competition income and community strength by taking on the following responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day implementation of existing plans and strategies on all existing Starlight Media social media platforms (see StarBaby and StarPet as examples) including content curation and template-based content creation, content posting, scheduling, inbox management and optimization within defined budgets
- Day to day implementation and management of all paid media strategies, plans and campaigns including daily optimization and monthly reporting
- Develop and implement strategies, plans and tools to foster and grow a strong core community around our individual communities with the goal of creating a core group of natural advocates, influencers and supporters
- Work with Digital Director to execute competition actions (e.g. eliminations, bonus vote periods) on the competition platform
- Identify trending social conversations that are relevant to our various Starlight Media properties and based on this develop and implement great stand-alone digital ideas that engage consumers with we do
- Work with the senior Starlight team to further develop and refine our future strategies and plans
EXPERIENCE & SKILL:
- Must be a digital native with an intimate knowledge of the mechanics and inner workings of social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
- A Digital Marketing or Social Media qualification would be highly advantageous
- At least 3 years’ demonstrable experience in social media community and digital campaign management with an excellent eye for detail.
- Must be proficient in planning across a wide variety of channels against clear goals, objectives and budgets
- Must be proficient in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must have excellent organizational and project planning / management skills coupled with the ability to work in a self-directed manner is KEY. Experience using team productivity and project planning applications, processes and methods a bonus
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
